Memories of Bugsy
Bugsy came into our lives 2 years ago when a co-worker of my wife sent around an email to see if anyone was willing to give a home to their pet rabbit which they could not take with them as a result of a move.

He was housed out doors by his previous owners but we brought him indoors to live with us.

Every morning I would let him out of his hutch and he would chew on my slippers (when I was wearing them) as I worked on the computer. Bugsy loved to eat and his favorite treats were his bananas and apples.

About a month ago his appetite became poor and we took him to the vet who said he had a sore throat and prescribed anti-biotics.

A week later there had been no improvement and the vet re-examined him and found he now had an absess in his neck. We had the absess lanced and drained. For a week we gave him his medicine and flushed his wound with peroxide.

On March 11 he seemed to be improving and his appetite was back.

The morning of March 13 I lifted him out of his hutch and discovered he was not able to stand and he appeared to be in a great deal of pain.

He was rushed to the vet and the vet advised they could treat him but the infection had spread and the treatment had less than a 10% chance of being sucessful. He was in a lot of pain throughout his body and we did not want to see our Bugsy suffer anymore so he was peacefully put to rest the morning of March 13, 2009.

Now our hearts ache, we miss him terribly and the tears have been flowing ever since.

We love you Bugsy
