Memories of Jody
|
The house is so empty now when we walk in. No white fur ball sitting on the stand to greet us. Jody had to sit on my lap every morning while I had my coffee and watched the news. His brother Tanner died 4 years ago and we tried twice to take in a friend for Jody but he didn't want another cat in the house. He was mainly a house cat but he liked to be outside. He had to be tied up or he would run off. A couple times he was gone for a few hours but during the night he found his way back to our porch. For awhile he slept on my pillow, then started sleeping at the foot of Katie's bed or in the bean bag chair in the livingroom. He was 18 years old, we picked him and his brother the day they were born. Jody had been having trouble with his hind legs the past few months, he kind of walked sideways. He didn't seem to be in any pain. One day he layed down and just didn't move. I told my daughter Katie to say goodbye but he kept breathing, we turned him every couple of hours and 2 days later he started to come out of it, we put water and food in front of him and he ate and drank. A couple of days later he was up and about again. 2 weeks later he did the same thing. He was breathing so shallow I had to put my hand on him to tell. I wanted him to go to sleep at home but I couldn't let him go on like this so we took him to the vet and had him put to sleep. He's with his brother now. We miss you guys. Love you. |
