Memories of Maia

From the day Maia arrived it was love at 1st sight. We adopted her from NorCal Boxer Rescue in TX. What a sweetheart! Gentle, soft, big eyes, tender ways and lots of play in her. As much as she liked to play, make no mistake, she was a princess, our princess. She was dainty in many ways...in the way she ate a bone with her paws crossed, never a mess. And every time I arrived home I can still see her running towards the door as I enter, her ears floppy and the biggest smile a dog can have. Then she would kneel, place one paw at a time on each of my legs and bend her head into me as I would ruffle her ears and scratch her neck. Her way of giving and receiving a hug. One thing for sure, she did not like getting her paws dirty or wet, God forbid there was snow or rain. She loved to play chase outside, but make sure it was nice out there. The 1st time we took her to our ranch, you should have seen the look on her face...where is my leopard print bed! How am I going to eat out of that metal bowl...where are my handpainted ones! When are we going home? From the beginning, she melted my husband's heart and mine. This country boy didn't stand a chance. He was use to outdoor dogs, getting sloppy and eating anything on the ground. She had him trained in 1 minute. Only the best food, fun toys and soft beds, yes beds in every room. Did I mention she had a wardrobe of collars? Swarovski crystals or nothing. She earned and deserved everything. She was so sweet when we adopted another Boxer Sargent who was being abused. She wasn't sure about this big boy dog, but quickly made him feel welcome. She didn't mind...much, she didn't mind much. What a joy, and honor and blessing to have her in our lives. Pumpkin, we will miss you greatly at Christmas and every other day. But I am so excited you have crossed Rainbow Bridge where you're cancer ridden body is healthy and you are no longer in pain. You deserve the best! We love you!
