Memories of Skippy
Skippy was the greatest dachshund that ever lived. He had many adventures on this planet. He was a traveler, by car, boat, bicycle, and airplane. He was a construction worker, foreman, plumber, and a lazy farmer. Skippy loved to hike and go to the beach, and forever loved to dig in his garden. Harvesting rocks and potatoes was his favorite hobby.
Skippy was the best mouse-chaser of all time, and he loved to poop on walks (and sometimes in the house!). He was The Protector of his tribe, and warded off all bad guys, including people, raccoons, feral cats, and even gophers. Skippy could run and chase like there was no tomorrow!
Skippy loved playing cards, and was always ready for a good snuggle, especially if it involved him getting a massage. He was a wiper of tears, and boldly took the heavy weight of human anxiety and suffering on his own broad shoulders. He was the embodiment of empathy, and cared deeply for his humans.
He barked at all people and animals, and accepted snacks of any kind (even the gross ones). Skippy was grouchy, picky, and high maintenance in many ways. He spent much of his time licking EVERYTHING, and working outside, rain or shine.
He was my longest friend, and he will be missed so very much.
Skippy was first met by his human family before his eyes were open, and before his ears worked. From the day he left his canine mother, he searched for her for his entire life. I know he will rest easy to be re-united with her in spirit after all these years.
Skippy is survived by all who loved him, and his animal family Sushi, Sierra, and Simon. He is preceded in death by his canine brother Fransis and his feline brother Mario, his rivals Frederick the Mouse and Mr. Nibbles the Guinea Pig, and his many Fish siblings. May they all Rest In Peace.
We love you Skippy. You were the strongest dog I have ever known, and you made life beautiful.
