Memories of Tabitha
| We brought you home from Japan in 1984. We had just lost one of our other fur babies. You were all of six pounds; fluff, vinegar, and wanted loving so badly. You acclimated well to the Midwest. Loved your house and people. Wanted to send Kandi away someplace..far, far away. For 17 years you graced our lives. It's almost summer now. Today you would be lounging on the in the window seat to catch the West sun. You were so spirited and full of yourself, but that was part of your charm. You'd fuzz your calico tail into a bottle brush and let the whole house know how you felt with your flashing golden eyes. I remember the time I had just set a fresh cup of Suisse Mocha coffee on the coffee table when you went by carrying your favorite stuffed blue bird. Without warning, you stuffed the bird into the coffee mug and kept going. You always liked being carried. At night when I was carrying you upstairs for bed you would growl, but that was just one of the little things you did. Upon destination, the growl would stop. Then I would place you on the bed and pull the sheet up to your chin. I would stroke your face and softly murmur "Sleepy-time girl" I repeated that from the moment I got you to the last night of your life. Sleep tight.. my little sleepy-time girl. My beautiful Tabitha Lou Patches. I'll see you again. |
