Memories of Zach

When I saw Zach running to me he was 3 1/2 y.o., he was absolutely beautiful and was so happy to see me as if he knew he was going to be so happy coming home! He was full of energy and excitement! He loved to go to the backyard and dug a hole underneath the bushes to keep him shady and cool. He also had other favorite spots to take his naps in the house; underneath the office desk, and underneath a corner table in the living room. I remember when he was much younger he used to bring his chew bones and burry them in the yard. He loved to eat food! any food; when the refrigerator was opened, he peek inside to see what was new! but his most favorite food would be french bread. He was an inside dog that loved his backyard and it was so funny in the evening I always call all my dogs to go "outside" in the yard before going to bed but Zach was special! he peek through the doggie door and he knew the trick as he wouldn't come in until I gave him a piece of french bread he had us trained really, really good :) He loved to go on walks; he loved pine cones for some reason...he grabbed them and didn't want to let go until we had to force him to open his mouth to let them out. He loved to chew on his cow hooves and got few different flavors of the filled ones for Christmas. We celebrated all his birthdays with cake, birthday hat, and many pictures, we sang happy birthday too!. Halloween was lots of fun as we dressed him up as "Eeyore"; him along with his other brothers and sisters. For Christmas we put all his toys wrapped up with christmas paper for Christmas Day. Everybody loved Zach, at the vets office, family relatives and people in general, he was sooo sweet and hugable. I always wanted a big Basset and he was one big boy not that huge but big enough to give good hugs! As a hound he had a sound "Basset Howl"; once he started; all of his brothers and sisters started as well, I even recorded it! He liked to sleep a lot and also played some with me and Thais. Everyday was a special day having Zach in our lives. We are thankful to God that he brought Zach into our lives to make us happier. He is joining his other brother Valentino at the Rainbow Bridge, so now they won't be alone and they are playing together, having fun and eating cookies and bread :) Every day we will celebrate all the special memories he brought to our family. We miss him very bad but we know he is healthy and pain free now. Let the guardian angel bless you for eternity when one day we will all be together to celebrate our life together. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2011: Dear Zach, we miss you so much and is very hard not to see you around the house. This afternoon, daddy and I went to Home Depot to get flowers to build a memorial garden for you surrounded with a white picket fence. We got bright colors, orange, yellow, lilac and planted them around your "second" favorite area to take naps in the backyard as we couldn't do it on your "first" choice as it was underneath a bush and couldn't build much of a garden. I water the flowers after planted and that is your memorial garden for us to visit every day and say hello to you and Valentino and do a little prayer. The "Basset" statute is there too and will keep your garden fresh and beautiful all the time. We love you and miss you dearly...mom, thais, daddy, percy, oliver, luna, bella, shane, anabelle. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2011: Dear Zach, I come to take care of your residence every day; I can still smell your scent in the hall. It's been 11 days and I still look for you around the house. This morning I went to the backyard and clean your favorite spot from all the leaves that have fallen. I water your garden every day, also, Percy, Bella and Anabelle have gone and visited you at the garden and smell the flowers, but I had to chase them away so they won't destroy them! We love you and miss you very much, when I went to church today we were singing "Amazing Grace" and I started crying for you as that's the song I have for your residence and my heart was hurting, but God tells me that you are happy now and that you found Valentino and Andrew and are all living together; that makes me very happy. WEDNEDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2011: Dear Zach, It's been 2 weeks today since you left to go to the rainbow bridge. I put your urn of your ashes and a picture of you laying down by the "lilies" in the backyard on the coffee table next to Valentino and Andrew's ashes. I water your garden every day and the flowers are getting strong and are growing fast. We put a taller white picket fence as Bella and Anabelle and maybe Percy want to visit your garden but they step on the flowers and I don't want them to destroy them. So, when I was watering the flowers yesterday I saw the rainbow colors in the water and I knew you and Valentino were saying hello and arooooos to me letting me know you were happy and healthy. We miss you every day and I touch some of the hairs I got from you the day you went to the rainbow bridge. We love you sooooo much! Many tight hugs and kisses! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2011: Dear Zach, it is a lovely day here in Covington, nice and cool...we were just talking about you that you would have love this type of weather as we know you loved cool weather with the sun shining bright. The sun is shining right above your beautiful flower garden, we water it every day and the flowers are getting stronger and brighter. We still smell your scent down the hall by the garage door. We know that where you are you have beautiful days like we have here today so I know you are enjoying yourself with Valentino, Andrew and the many new friends. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2011: Dear Zach, today is a month that you left to go to the rainbow's bridge and I just want to tell you that Thais and I think of you every day and when we have cool nights, we think how much you would have liked to be outside enjoying that weather. We love you more than what you could ever imagine, or maybe you knew....it seems like yesterday you were with us, but you live in our hearts and our daily memories every single day of our lives. God Bless you, Valentino and Andrew too, I know you are so happy you have found them and are living together forever! With all our love, Mama, Thais, Oliver, Percy, Luna, Anabelle, Shane, Bella, Desiree and Hermaynee. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2011: Dear Zach, I have a new phone, and the wallpaper I chose looks just like the meadows at your Rainbows Bridge Residence with the Rainbow Colors and everything, I see you every day, I think of you every day, I water your garden every day, don't think that there is a day we don't think of you. We love you so much and your presence lives with us every single day. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2011: Is getting very cool here lately, I just want to tell you how much I love you and when I pass by the corner table in the living you I look for you. There are so many things we think of you, like when we see pine cones, we remember you when you used to grab them and run away with them, and when we open the refrigerator and I see you there looking to see what was smelling so good :) You live in our hearts and we are blessed you give us so much happiness every single day. Many hugs, kisses! from all of us. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2011: Is Thanksgiving week and I was watching your video when you were howling so beautiful...I miss you so much Zach and we think of you all the time! We have a turkey to cook and some rice and bread! I will save you some bread and turkey to celebrate you and thank God for having your love in our hearts. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2011: Hi Zach! It is very cold in here! we put the Christmas Tree up and some decorations, we have a stocking hanging at the mantle for you. We remember you all the time and we call your name and the other boys and girls look up to see you. I know you are having so much fun with Valentino, Andrew and new friends and are enjoying the weather at the rainbow bridge. I will write to you later this week. I love you so much, we all do! THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2011; Zach, we love you and miss you so much! today was a very rainy day. Me and Thais were calling your name the other day and look at the sky and said I know you are having fun and are in a pretty rainbow bridge and we are joyful that you are in no pain and being young again. Please send arrooos to Valentino; tell him we love him very much and we miss him a lot too. You both are very special in our lives and will live in our hearts forever until we meet again. Christmas is this coming Sunday and Thais is right now talking to Santa Claus at Pet Smart telling him what toys to bring the other boys and girls...we'll be thinking of you and Valentino very much and you will be with us celebrating Christmas day. I'll write to you then...also, send little kisses to baby Andrew. MONDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2011: Dear Zach, we remembered you yesterday and today especially when I got some hooves that you really loved to play with. Me and Thais called your name with happiness as we knew you were with us. It was a rainy day so we stayed home; same as today. We love you with all our heart my big boy Zach! JANUARY 21, 2012: Is 2012 now; and is a warm day; it has been quiet in general. We think of you all the time. I'm keeping some of your hairs in a plastic bag and have it hanging with a clamp by the night table so you are there with me all the time. This morning I was with Thais in the room and got the bag and touched your hair and got a love feeling in my heart because I felt you there. Bella has lost some weight and is running like crazy, Oliver had a tooth pulled, shane is fine, anabelle is like a little angel that is watching over you and Luna is doing good too. They miss you a lot and wish they can howl with you again as you were the howl leader! I miss you so much and always think of you and I cry sometimes but I know you lived a happy life with us and we did absolutely everything we could to give you the best treatment to keep you healthy, but God wanted you too as he loves the animals too and he didn't want you to suffer any more. Well, until next time Zach, I love you with all my heart. FEBRUARY 25, 2012: Good morning Zach! It is getting warmer already, not to much, some days more than others. Today we are bringing Bella and Percy to Mardi Paws, and you will come along with us too. Remember when we brought you to the parade and we dressed you up. You were so handsome!!! We remember you all the time. Yesterday when the boys were howling Thais said she misses your big howl...yes we do! You were the best and sometimes I play your video where you were howling...we love you soooo much. I can't believe is already 5 months. We miss you so much, and will always love you until the day we meet again! With all my love, Mama
