Memories of Zoey

Zoey loved everybody, and everyone loved him. He would throw himself at a person's feet, roll over and ask to have his tummy rubbed. Neighbors and friends all fell in love with him. He'd walk in any house where a door was open, assuming he was welcome. I'd let him out in the morning and he'd go hunting in the woods behind our house, while I went back to bed. He'd bring the latest catch to me in my bedroom and chase it around! I always praised him, and let him eat it. (Usually mice, lizards and an occaisional gopher.) He loved to sprawl out on my desk when I was working, messing everything up! He was fascinated by the shower, and would come in to watch the water as soon as I turned it on. Then when I got in, he'd sit on the toilet and watch. He loved to hide and sleep in the linen closet; he could open the door by himself and curl up in there for hours. I had to leave a space next to the beach towels for him. When he was relaxed, he'd let me kiss his tummy and pet his paws, so soft. He was unique in so many ways. I was blessed to have him in my life on earth, for all too short a time. I so look forward to the day when we will be reunited at Rainbows Bridge.
