Memories of Sandy
| My soul-mate...the most perfect, special, best boy ever. There will NEVER be another Sandy!!! Long before I even met Sandy, I had heard of him as the white dog, (in the shelter), with fur as soft as cotton. His beauty was matched only by his charm, manners, and sweetness. More recently a friend described his fur as soft as down feathers....I certainly do miss cuddling with that soft, beautiful sweetheart. I miss hearing his happy bark,(sounding like a seal), when he would hear my car in the driveway. I miss the way he would bark only once to come in, then wait patiently for me to open the door. I miss the way, every night he knew to jump up in his spot for bedtime, and the way he would pop up in the air as if he were on springs, when he knew he was going for a walk, the way he would lay down to eat his dinner, the way he would get so excited when company came, and then just go lay down in his spot...and so much more. My niece always called him "surfer dog", because he was so calm. Sandy was pure pleasure to be around. My father always said "Sandy is a dandy". He told me that's what they used to say about a baseball player named Sandy Kofax. I don't know if my Sandy knew too much about baseball, but he certainly knew more than most about love, loyalty, devotion, friendship, tolerance, patience, gratitude, affection, and bravery. Thank-you, Sandy, for teaching me about a very special kind of love. May 26,2005: Can it really be possible that so many years have passed? Each passing year only serves to confirm what I knew the day I lost you dear Sandy......there will never be another one like YOU! 'Till we meet again, my love, rest in peace. |
