A YEAR AGO TODAY

Sometimes I catch a movement
From the corner of my eye
And I know it's you I see
That's slowly passing by
I stared into your eyes
So green and clear
The comfort you always brought me
When you were near
You had a special toy
You carried everywhere
I'd find it in the bedroom
In the hall or on a stair
I hear your purring
In the middle of the night
You can't be gone
It's just not right
You were the one I loved
For 17 wonderful years
I have grieved and cried
A multitude of tears
I have the happiest memories
That I will keep forever
And in my heart you'll be
I will forget you never
If I could have
But one wish today
I'd get down on my knees
And I would pray
I'd pray you were still
Sitting by my side
A Year ago today
