Ode to Murph

by Cheryl .........................................

He came from a small town in Indiana
He thrived at Brighton Meadows
growing from energetic kitten - flying through the air
no potted plant was safe from his antics...
He munched on Friskies and morsels
Escaped near death from the microwave (a drunken so called cat hater lets say...)
Survived a leap from the balcony at night - looking up at me like how did I get here?
Moved to the condo of love
Enjoyed bluberry muffins and Roxy the cat across the street!
On to White Hill Court and then came Adam the new baby in the house
He was calm and regal and laid back in his approach
His green eyes took in all and spoke volumes
His tail would flip and pound the floor when he had something to say
Boxes and bags were his pleasure to explore
Catnip made him roll on his side and purr with pleasure
Meals were never missed
Moved again to Halley View Run
such a big yard to explore
pine trees to sit in the shade and watch for birds...
oh back in the car again where are we going?
Clarendon Hills - new territory to explore - Naperville Road
he lays in the middle of the hallway - the movers walk around him - willingly!
Who's this? Dusty joins the household in 2002
Murph calmly accepts this new member of the household
Still regal, still calm, still king.....fur so soft always floating in the air
Oxford Street - one more move - no problem - He's the master of adapting
Nice yard and patio to sun in, loves a good brushing out here
Age is creeping up my gosh where have 19 years gone??
We're moving slower ...napping longer
The grey head -still loves to be brushed- his whiskers curl in now
His once mammoth 19 pounds is down to a respectable 11
Summer lingers...a fine October
A cat with the heart of a giant finally gives in to his age and a body that can't continue any longer
