Kyla

by Darlene .........................................

Kyla was picked out from her kennel of brother and sister puppies because of her feisty spirit. She was full of energy and loved that she was adored so much by everyone she let pass through the arch to her little kingdom.

She felt it was her job to protect the family she was so loyal to, so she would by nip and bark as if she was something fierce and dangerous, when actually she was quite the softy. Her favorite things to nip at were Mail Carriers, ankles of any stranger or animal that could pose a threat, and of course the tails of her feline friends.

When she wasn´t protecting her family fiercely :) she was using her energy to run with the horses, chasing one of her favorite people around the race track as they trained horses together. That stopped when she one day decided to bite the wrong set of ankles, and became the only dog I saw with a black eye. So she retired from harness racing and kept the cats in line that lived in the barn. She was often found running through the race track with the cats dishes in her mouth, making sure to eat every last morsel of cat food.

Her favorite person on this earth was my mother, who she slept with every night, sat at her feet, and followed as a shadow. She made sure to guard the bed from any intruders, especially her arch enemy ¨Lucky the Cat¨ tails, ankles, and Mailmen were her favorite target.

Now this may make Kyla sound aggressive, but she as just one who took her job as loyal protector, very seriously, as she demonstrated how she devoted every bit of her heart to those she loved, and if no one was looking she would even share some of that love with "Lucky the Cat"

Kyla was always smiling, as you will see from these pictures. She almost always smiled, in fact I can not find a picture she was not smiling in. That is likely because she mastered the art of dog thieving and could get into the cupboard and steal treats when not one was home. She always thought she was one up on us, but I guess all those angels that work so hard to protect feel they are one up on us, and always know best.

Kyla made the most of each and every one of her friendships, and focused more on quality than quantity, and if you penetrated her soft, sweet heart, she would love you forever. Even if months or even a year passed without seeing you, she would greet you as if you were the most important person in her life. Little did she know she was the most important furry friend in our lives.

We love you Kyla and will never forget you.
