Angie

by David Cupp.........................................

I remember 4 years ago, we brought home a runt. We brought her home because no one was willing to take her, and she needed a good home. She had major health problems her whole life.

Despite how this story starts, Im very happy about this.

My dog died today. Her name was Angie. She died of seizures induced by her flea medication. She was known for having seizures, but we had her taking medicine, and they were never anything major. She would be fine in 30 or so minutes usually. We loved her, and she loved us.

Despite her life being troubled with constant medical issues, and always being some kind of sick, she managed to be the happiest animal I have ever seen in my life. She was always playful, and caring, and a trouble maker. A silly little dog full of youthful spirit and she always made sure when you were entering a room, to give you a warm greeting. She had so much spunk and determination too. From little things like begging for food, and when she was feeling really sick, she was always trying to keep on going.

I dont feel a great sadness for her passing. I miss her very much, but I do not have sorrow. The reason I say this is because my dog spent her whole life trying to keep us happy. To let her passing get me down would disappoint her.

I always believed animals were intelligent, and people dont give them the credit they deserve. This dog was definitely making a strong case for that. And she taught me a very valuable lesson, and that lesson is this.

Despite terrible, painful, and debilitating conditions, my dog found happiness in life. If she can find happiness, and bring happiness to others, we all can. She made the most of her short life. She knew we were giving her a chance, and she repaid us by being one of the best friends we could ever ask for. And for that, I am happy. Happy that her life was well spent, no matter how short it was. She has done far more for me in 4 years then what most people have ever done my entire life.

Angie, today you passed away. You were one of my best friends, and beloved family members. All because you are gone from the physical world doesnt mean you didnt leave a huge impression. Its not the end for you, simply another beginning.

I love you, and my only wish was I could have given you one last goodbye before you left us.
