Waiting at the Gate

Waiting at the Gate of Heaven

From the place where He sees all, God noticed the dog sitting just outside Heaven, anxiously watching the road leading to The Gate. "You may enter at any time" God told the creature.
"I am waiting for my master" replied the dog. "He won't be along for a very long time" God answered, " Come in and enjoy Heaven until then." "No thank you" said the dog, "I'll wait, I want to be by his side when he arrives so we can go in together." God touched the dog gently and said "If there is anything you need in the meantime don't hesitate to ask." But the dog said nothing for it's attention had turned once again to the road watching hopefully for the soul it loved so well.
