The Lion Sleeps Tonight

by Jeremy Robinson.........................................

Our little golden boy Bailey Robinson gave a whole new meaning to the term "Man's Best Friend". He was literally my wife and I's best friend. While battling through a ten pound tumor and 3 months of Lymphoma, instead of feeling sorry for himself he made sure we were positive with his constant upbeat persona. Alot of people say that their pet is the perfect little pet, but I can truly stake that claim. He was the ultimate people lover. From the mailman to any other person who came to our home or we saw out and about the only fear they would have is him killing them with his kindness. Thank God he wasn't much of a licker or there would have been some messy folks through the years. He was not just "Man's Best Friend" he was "Everyone's Best Friend". If anyone has ever had a Golden Retriever, sometimes when they lay down in the yard with their head up they truly resemble a lion. I thought it was only fitting that on the afternoon of his passing that while flipping through the radio dial I heard the famous oldies song The Lion Sleeps Tonight. At first all I wanted to do was pull over and cry but if anyone knows the song and if you knew Bailey it was the perfect upbeat, happy go lucky song that exemplifies him and where he is now. He is back in full health and having a ball with all of his new friends. He is meeting some of the other pets from my past that I told him about and he is reuniting with some of his old friends like Kasey, Sammy and Snoopy. In closing I will say that my wife and I can't wait for the day that we see those beautiful brown eyes and big smile and what we would give for one more of his patented nose nudges. Bailey we love you and we are counting the day's that we see you again.

Comments would be appreciated by the author, Jeremy Robinson
