You came to us with your brother
who frankly was quite mean
But you just sat there quietly
not wanting to make a scene

So we took you into our home
and made you one of us
You were so happy to have a family
and you never made a fuss

Soon we had to move
into a bigger home
Of course you were so happy
with a lot more room to roam

The years went on and you and Nikki
sometimes would run away
But luckily we found you both
to enjoy another day

But one day Nikki got real sick
and to heaven she would go
and though we felt your sadness
you never let it show

You stayed with us another two years
only to be struck down as well
and though we kow you're in heaven
down here it feels like hell

I used to laugh and think them crazy
at those people I had met
who would say their dog is this and that
how much they loved their pet

To all those people I am sorry
becuase now I can see
for I have lost a special friend
who meant the world to me

Perhaps that was your duty
why God put you in my life
to take this cold heart of mine
and help me see the light

Well my fiend you did your job
and you did it very well
for i nolonger laugh at those
who think their pet so swell

There will nver be another Otis
you gave us six great years
I've never felt this kind of loss
or cried this many tears

But I realize it's not just me
all of us miss you so
you were such a special family member
we thought you'd never go

But, alas, the Good Lord called you
and, oh, what a joy it's been
So, Otis you be good in heaven
until we meet again
