Unspoken Love

To love animals takes patience,
To teach them all we can.
For God put them first upon the Earth,
Then entrusted them to man.

To love animals takes honesty,
For they know not how to lie.
They see right thru the things we do,
Yet, cannot ask us why.

To love animals takes kindness,
For they know not how to hate.
They will adhere to trust, not fear,
Our hands will hold their fate.

To love animals takes courage,
For we know we will outlive them.
The ways we care are how they fare,
They have only what we give them.

To love animals takes understanding,
For they act on instinct only.
They cannot change what's in their brains,
But, their hearts make ours less lonely.
